When my daughter was only a few months old, we went to my husbands home to visit with his dad. My daughter had spent alot of time in hospital so this was the first time she was to visit.

They had an old GSD/ mix who was rescued from being a junk yard dog. He wasn't to keen on kids so I was careful with my daughter around him.

What surprised me and my inlaws was, Ace and my daughter. Sitting on the couch with her, Ace would just sit in front of her and stare. Not glare but just looking.

It was time to give feed her so I picked her up and went to go into the kitchen. With that, Ace nipped my butt. Every step I made, he would do the same thing.

So I stopped and went back to the couch and laid her on it again. Ace, came back and sat infront of her, just looking again. I tried to take her again to the kitchen and low abd behold, the nipping started again.

So I told my husband to come and sit with our daughter while I got her bottle. Ace never moved. He stayed there.

Over the next few yrs, Ace and my daughter became great friends and he protected her all the time. He wouldn't let her near stairs, stove or anything that he saw as a possible danger. If she was upstairs in bed, he would lay beside her bed. If she got out he would stand at the top of the stairs blocking her from them.

My daughter was the only child that Ace loved and protected. Sadly we lost Ace a few years ago and he is greatly missed.
