My wee love, Jemma

I have always had a kittycat - wouldn't want to go through life without one and have shared my life with four wee moggies so far. Jem is my latest wee love of 15years.
I went to the Cats Protection League to find another furry companion when my last cat, Emma died, and was immediately hit on by a ginger and white gent who wanted desperately to go home with me. It was nearly a done deal until I spotted a couple of green eyes in a separate enclosure, in the depths of a cat box. I asked about this wee cat and found she had been adopted into a family with a dog and when she had defended herself and scratched the dog's nose, she had been sent back in disgrace and was very, very timid. I knew it wasn't likely that anyone else would take her but I knew I would give her a good life so adopted her then and then. I was offered both cats but knew at that stage that Jem was a one cat per house kitty so had to leave the ginger gent to the next adopter.
Jemma has had a quiet life and is known to friends and family as the ghost cat as they never see her. To my husband and myself, she is just a normal cat, talkative, loving and bossy! As she has aged she has learned how to wrap us around her little claws and willingly we have responded. Now, at 15 going on 16, she has developed hyperthyroidism but is responding well and loves all the added attention! She has only just recently started wrapping herself around my neck at night in the armchair and giving me deep soulful looks so I wonder just how long I will have with this wonderful little old lady. However much time is left to us, she will be loved and pampered and cared for and I can only pray her final days are a long time to come. She is as part of us as a child.
When I reach heaven, I fully expect to carry her with me across the Rainbow Bridge.

Wonderful story! Thanks for sharing.

I hope that Jemma has many healthy, happy years remaining. One of our cats lived to be 22, and was healthy until the last 2 weeks of her life.

On behalf of Jemma, THANK YOU for giving a timid kitty a wonderful life!
