My baby Boy Learns To Swim
Molly our Lab loves to swim rain, hail or shine. I was for ever filling up her drinking water as she would constantly jump in it and swim but, for some reason Memphis our Rotti stayed far away when she was in the water. I decided to take Molly and Memphis swimming lessons molly well, she was a natural did not wait to get the life jacket on just dived in the pool. We got the life jacket on Memphis and guided him in the pool he was very frieghtened but, i was determined to teach him to swim. he would cling to the side and did not take his eyes off me as we walked around the pool until molly came over. She began to guide him with her head although he was still unsure he held onto her tail while she swam to the other side just pulling him along he let go and started to panic Molly gave her friend a few licks and stayed by his side and guided Memphis back to the edge of the pool. I had a tear come out of my eyes It was a moment of trust and love between our beautiful 2 dogs which have made them very close today.
We would go out to the dam every day and watch Molly swim and Memphis would just run around and follow her but, on dry land we knew he wanted to go in. I never thought he would swim again until my husband called me at work one day and said " Guess what Memphis went swimming on his own for the 1st time without the help of his friend Molly" I could not stop crying my baby boy swam on his own and i was ever so proud of him.
A few days later I got to see him swim. i watched as he held onto Molly's tail she began to guide him in as they got deeper he would let go but, Molly would stay close to Memphis's side. When he starts to panic she knows so, she licks him and he knows its ok. One day he started tp panic bad Molly
was trying to lick him but, he jumped on her back i started to worry as I could just see molly's head trying to stay above the water as i watched sure enough Molly (who's 32Kg)swam for her life she did not care that Memphis (Who's 43KG) almost drown her she just wanted to get him out . Ive never seen a bond between 2 dogs with so, much love, trust and dedication. Now all they ever want to do is go swimming..
