My husband had a very special cat. She would lay on top of him every evening when he came in from work and would cuddle up so close with her head to his head. He would kiss her and she would put her face so close to his mouth that it looked like she kissed him. He had been heartbroken and needed her very much at the time. So then I came into his life and I saw what a close and wonderfully nurturing relationship they had. I guess sometimes I really got kind of jealous and started to be a bit mean to the cats. Mamy Kitty just looked me right into the eye with a kind of curiosity but not reproachful as if she wanted to ask what was wrong with me???
I felt she had looked right into my soul and couldn't act out my anger any more.

Once I was very depressed and lay in bed. She came to me and very gently pawed onto my chest (We called it the kitty massage)
and then lay on top of me what she hadn't done before.

I couldn't believe it and miss her so much just now.
I was up to then not really special to her (no wonder!) but she sensed my inner pain and did not only try but indeed did help me to feel better. I could feel her tender loving care.
We called her Mamy Kitty because in her heart she was a true mother, not only to lots of batches of kittens which she nurtured and cared for like the best mother in the world - but also she was a mother to us humans when we needed one.
