I could have never lived without them

I have had three cats so far, and I am only thirteen. My first cat was Garfeild my mum got him before I was born. He was a good boy he never hurt me and amazingly he would look after neiborhood birds. Once when he was in a fight with a ginger cat that lived down the road the birds chased him away for Garfeild. Sadly at the age of 23 in human years he was run over by a car. He had to be put down. He probably would have lived longer he had nothing wrong with him.

A year later this man that lived with my dad had a cat named Smokey who was ten months old. The man neglected him and my dad was left to look after him. My mum did not like this so we took him home with us. Smokey was a very friendly cat and he loved to chase pine cones. He even figured out how to open the back door. Four days after we got him we discovered that he was a boy (we had thought he was a girl) That night my mum told me to let him out so I did and he did not come back. The next day my mum and my sister went looking for him when they discovered he had been hit by a car. He was buried next to Garfeild in our back yard. I blamed my self for his death.

After our dog Codee died the ginger cat came over one night and attacked our birds. He ripped our budgie Punch's wing off. She lived for the night and then died the next day.

6 months after Smokey died I got a small kitten who was female. She was white with grey patches so I named her Stormy. I got her when she was 5 weeks old because the people that owned her mother said that the kittens were almost killing her. Stormy could sit in the palm of my hand and only her head and a bit of her tail was sticking out. When we took her, her twin brother ( he was really her twin his marking looked exactly the same) said good bye by putting his nose up to hers. Stormy is now 2 and is turning 3 this year. She has got some amazing habits to. When we have the heater on she sits ontop of it and turns the lamp on with her nose and starts clening herself under it. She also likes standing up on two paws to look around like a meerkat and she also stands up on two legs so she can rub her food can before eating it. Once she got into a fight with the ginger cat and won he has never come back and killed anymore of our birds since.

Stormy also loves to attack the mat and climb under it. Sometimes she goes under the house to look for rats. She has become a skilled hunter like Garfield once was. I even talk to her and tell her stories and my problems and she listens. I don't know what I would have done without these three in my life.

I'll never forget Garfeild and Smokey.
